CHAPTER 4. WANDERING BEYOND MAJORS AND MINORS

"YOUR MAJOR IS NOT YOUR END GOAL; ITS A SERIES OF CLASSES THAT WILL HELP YOU ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOAL."

I think that students have to realize that all classes required in their majors are valuable. However many classes are not related to their majors, students have opportunities to acquire knowledge and learn skills that which would be very helpful in developing their careers.

"IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOUR COURSES ARE NOT RELEVANT TO YOUR LIFE POST-COLLEGE, YOU ARE WRONG".

However many students could agree that some courses they have to take in college are useless, most of the courses contain metaknowledge that can be very helpful and can be applied in workplace setting. I believe that everything what we learn in college help us to gain experience, different types of skills and make us to be open to new ideas.

"WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER"

According to the chapter many students try to read and learn everything but 80% of important information will come from 20% of the material. I think it is important to focus only on things that are the most important for us. Each of us should figure out how to learn smarter not harder.

CHAPTER 3 MENTAL WANDERINGS

"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change"
WAYNE DYER, THE POWER OF INVENTION

This quote and section of the chapter is very interesting and I believe it encourages many people to start looking at things from different point of view. Good thinking may help you to interpret situation and see positives sides of bad situation.

"Positive thinking creates a positive future."

This part of the chapter focuses on positive thinking. A positive thinking is a key to happiness, joy, successful outcome of every situation and action and a major component of success. If we want to be successful in the future we have to change the way of thinking and start being optimistic.

"By examining each piece using logic and reason, the analytic thinker is able to reassemble the pieces into a greater whole that is better understood and valued."

Analytical thinking is a very important and valuable skill. I think that everyone has to learn how to think in a logical, step-by-step manner and be able to come to a conclusion, which is a solution to a problem. In every workplace it would be important to use analytical thinking in order to find the right decision for the problems.
